Born in Sacramento, Alex Ordoubegian has always served his local communities with compassion and purpose. Relocating to Southern California in 2008, he currently serves the San Diego LGBTQ+ community as Facilities Manager for the San Diego LGBT Community Center and Sunburst Youth Housing Project. An avid sports fan, Ordoubegian is active in several local sports organizations. Intently committed to social service, he is a graduate of the 2018 Young Professionals’ Academy, an organization dedicated to empowering young LGBT professionals in sustaining and advancing equity, equality, health and human rights for all. Combining his work acumen, his passion for social service and his degree in Economics from San Diego State University, he is committed to both the growth and sustainability of the organization and those it serves. Ordoubegian has an extensive history with volunteerism and philanthropy, working directly with many local charities and non-profits including AIDS Walk San Diego, American Cancer Society, National Kidney Foundation, International Gay Bowling Organization, We Care San Diego and Humanizing the Homeless, among others. He enjoys hiking, traveling, exploring San Diego’s diverse neighborhoods, is a certified HIV Test Counselor and licensed phlebotomist and is an Ambassador for the #BeTheGeneration sexual health education & community outreach program.
A passionate advocate for sexual health education and social service support, Aaron Heier, the San Diego LGBT Community Center’s Director of HIV Testing & Front Desk Services, is a licensed HIV/HCV Test Counselor, Sexual Health Educator and Certified Phlebotomy Technician (CPT) working every day to #BeTheGeneration that sees an end to new HIV infections. Since 2000, he has been actively involved in the local LGBT community as both a volunteer and staff member of The Center. An outspoken champion of volunteerism and philanthropy, Heier devotes much of his free time to numerous charitable organizations including Habitat for Humanity, The ARC of San Diego, Alzheimer’s Association and St. Baldrick’s Foundation, among others. He’s received Congressional commendation for his community service, is a four-time Nicky Award-winner, is Board President (emeritus) of Stonewall Citizens’ Patrol and serves as Street Bundles’ current Board Secretary.
